Local Fuel Company / Accountant/Controller
Pay: $25-$30/hour depending on experience
Hours: Monday - Friday 8-5
Job Duties:
- Manage general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close
- Oversee or perform accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll review
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
- Track and reconcile propane inventory, cost of goods sold, and margins
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting, including fuel-related filings
- Coordinate with external CPA and tax professionals
- Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Assist ownership with financial insights and operational reporting
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in propane, fuel, transportation, or inventory-based industries
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with inventory accounting and margin analysis
- Proficient in Excel and accounting software
- Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working in a family-owned business environment
