Job Description


Local Church /Cook

Pay: $12/hour with room for growth

Hours: 20-40 hours per week, flexible schedule (includes some Sundays)

Schedule: Subject to change depending on events

  • Mon, Tue, Thu: 8:30am-3:30pm
  • Wed: 8:30am-7:30pm (typically starts closer to 10am)
  • Sun (special events): 8:00am-2:00pm

Main Duties:
  • Prepare, cook, and serve food for daily operations and special events
  • Assist with menu items such as sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads, quesadillas, and fried foods
  • Operate kitchen equipment (stoves, grills, steamers, etc.) safely and correctly
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen, dining, dish room, and storage areas
  • Manage food inventory and prepare supplies for upcoming meals
  • Follow food safety standards (ServSafe & TX health department requirements)
  • Assist with special dietary needs when required
  • Provide support to other kitchen staff and assist with Sunday coffee service if assigned
  • Perform other food-service-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Food service preparation skills (quantity food prep, cooking, and equipment use)
  • Food Handler certification (ServSafe preferred, can be obtained after hire)
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic math skills (for measuring, portions, and inventory management)
  • Strong work ethic; punctuality required
  • Must maintain high ethical standards and professionalism aligned with church ministry values

Physical Demands:

  • Standing for long periods
  • Heavy lifting/carrying (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, twisting
  • Exposure to kitchen temperature extremes and noise
  • Ability to handle stressful or fast-paced situations


Applicant requirements:
  • Must have a clean background.
  • Must have a clean drug screen.
  • Must have a valid food handler's card.
