Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class A CDL Driver to join our team. As a Class A CDL Driver, you will be responsible for transporting various metal materials to and from our facility using heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Your role will involve loading and unloading materials, ensuring their safe transportation, and complying with all relevant traffic and safety regulations. Attention to detail, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to safety are essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle, such as tractor-trailers or flatbed trucks, to transport metal materials to and from designated locations.
Load and unload metal materials onto the truck, ensuring proper securement and weight distribution.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure its mechanical soundness and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic and transportation regulations, including hours of service requirements.
Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely delivery of materials while maximizing fuel efficiency.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and other relevant information as required.
Communicate with dispatchers, plant personnel, and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries and address any issues or concerns.
Comply with all safety procedures and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform basic maintenance tasks on the vehicle, such as checking tire pressure, oil levels, and performing minor repairs when necessary.
Report any accidents, incidents, or violations promptly and accurately.
Maintain a clean and organized truck cab and trailer.
Qualifications:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
Knowledge of and ability to comply with all local, state, and federal traffic and transportation regulations.
Familiarity with metal recycling operations and processes is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
Excellent driving skills and a proven record of safe driving practices.
Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Stable work history.
Must be able to pass drug screening.
