Local Company / Salvage Shop Mechanic
Pay: $18/hour
Hours: Monday - Friday
Job Duties:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair damaged or salvaged vehicles and equipment.
- Dismantle vehicles and salvage usable parts for repair, resale, or recycling.
- Rebuild engines, transmissions, and other major mechanical systems as needed.
- Conduct repairs on electrical, brake, steering, and suspension systems.
- Maintain an organized and clean workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Ensure that all work complies with safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform quality checks on salvaged parts to determine usability or need for replacement.
- Collaborate with other team members to assess repair needs and prioritize tasks.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and labor time for each job.
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with experience working in a salvage or auto repair shop.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and mechanical components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and determine effective repair solutions.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures when working with vehicles and machinery.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to lift heavy parts, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
